Teleport Certification

At the request of members, WTA has launched a certification program for teleports, covering facilities, technical infrastructure and operating procedures.  The goal is to create an objective, transparent and internationally accepted method for:

  • Teleport operators to document the quality of their operations for customers and strategic partners
  • Customers to select teleport vendors delivering the price-performance level that is appropriate for their applications

Research Reports

WTA conducts and publishes original research to help teleport operators improve their operations, reduce their costs and grow their businesses. Topics range from markets and business issues to technology and operational best practices. All reports and papers are available free to members of WTA, and are also available for purchase by non-members. (WTA Members should sign in to receive discount)

Executive Dialogue Series
The World Teleport Association’s Executive Dialogue Series provides WTA members with opportunities to share their viewpoints, experience and technical knowledge with a global audience. During select conferences and exhibitions, WTA will conduct video interviews with executives of WTA member companies in the Distribution area of the show floor for playout on the WTA Web site.

Teleport Awards for Excellence

Since 1995, WTA has presented annual awards to companies and individuals who have dramatically demonstrated excellence in the field of teleport operations, development and technology. Winners receive a presentation photograph, an Award, and assistance with promotion of their achievement. The Teleport Awards for Excellence are presented during the annual SATELLITE conference and exhibition in Washington DC during a luncheon ceremony to which WTA members are invited and SATELLITE attendees may attend by paying a small registration fee.

Top Operator Rankings

Each year, WTA publishes the world's only rankings of companies that operate teleports for commercial purposes, including independents, satellite carriers, fiber carriers and technology providers. Organizations that operate teleports principally for their own use, such as broadcast networks, are not included.

Rankings are based on total revenue from all sources and on year-over-year growth. They recognize that, to some extent, every teleport operator competes in the same marketplace – the biggest with the smallest – but that like all marketplaces, the teleport sector has segments in which even the smallest players can compete effectively and achieve strong growth.
