A key player in the global mining and metallurgy sector, French group Eramet has chosen Sonema to deploy their VSAT network in Africa in addition to installing a managed SD-WAN solution. In order to meet the challenges involved with improving the performance of their business applications, Internet access and videoconferencing platform, Eramet has called upon Sonema to deploy a VSAT network between France and Gabon. The link connects Eramet’s manganese mine in Moanda and the port of Owendo in Gabon with their datacentre which is located in Paris.

Jean-François HUET, Information Systems Director for the Eramet group: « Within the scope of this deployment, the challenge was to be able to optimise and manage multiple types of connection within a hybrid infrastructure which simultaneously uses VSAT, terrestrial and point-to-point wireless connections. Load sharing management, prioritising of critical applications and the scalability of the digital architecture were all key factors for the success of the project.
