On the 14th June 2019, the PCI Security Standards Councilconfirmed that Expertmedia, Sonema’s technical subsidiary company, has obtained PCI DSS V3.2.1 compliance as a “Level 1 Service Provider”.

PCI-DSS compliance allows Sonema to guarantee a maximum level of data security to its customers and to establish itself as a trusted third-party for various banking and electronic banking services. From now on, Sonema will also be able to host electronic banking applications and platforms which require PCI PSS compliance.

The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard was established by the major suppliers of credit and payment cards including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover Card and JCB. The standards were created in order to increase checks on cardholder data with the aim of reducing the fraudulent use of payment instruments.

PCI DSS compliance is subject to a detailed audit carried out by GALITT, an independent external organism which is QSA-accredited (Qualified Security Assessor) and who measure compliance for all elements of the data treatment chain.

Sonema’s Managing Director Catherine Delom stated : « Security is a key issue for our customers, particularly in the banking sector. The bancarisation rate on the African continent is increasing rapidly, electronic banking services are increasingly popular thanks to mobile platforms, internet usage is more and more extensive and sophisticated menaces and cyber-attacks are multiplying. Within this context, Sonema has made security a major priority. PCI DSS compliance enables us to embark upon a new phase in our global strategy, in order to recognise that our infrastructures and platforms are compliant with the very highest international levels and requirements.
