Configuration management is concerned with understanding how configurations of equipment and software affect a service, both positively and negatively. This section deals with procedures used to manage configurations, and changes to them.
a. Do you have a centralized and electronic system for recording configurations for each service?
b. Are old cables removed when no longer required?
c. Are racks numbered?
d. Are the cabled labeled or numbered?
e. Are firmware and software upgrades tested in a non-production environment before deployment?
f. For which systems are configurations tracked and recorded, i.e. managed?
