TEMPE, Arizona, May 10, 2011 – Comtech EF Data Corporation announced today Technology Marketing Corporation (TMC) has named the CDM-750 Advanced High-Speed Modem as a recipient of the 2011 NGN Leadership Award presented by its publication, NGN Magazine.

The CDM-750 Advanced High-Speed Trunking Modem was designed with the needs of telco operators and ISPs in mind. Its innovative, high-performance architecture allows efficient networking and transport over satellite links for a variety of applications – IP trunking, G.703 trunking, high-speed content delivery, disaster recovery & emergency communications.

An industry-first, the CDM-750 simultaneously supports DVB-S2, ACM, GZIP compression and DoubleTalk® Carrier-in-Carrier®. Leveraging DVB-S2 EN 302 307 LDPC/BCH, the CDM-750 provides the best possible blend of modulation and coding to ensure that the maximum amount of satellite traffic is transported for a given signal to noise capacity. With ACM, the CDM-750 can respond to changing link conditions by automatically adjusting performance and error correction, resulting in its ability to convert link margin into user capacity under all conditions and to deliver up to 100% increase in throughput. GZIP Compression is a high-speed ASIC-based lossless hardware compression and typically provides an additional bandwidth savings or capacity increase of 40-50%. DoubleTalk Carrier-in-Carrier allows the transmit and receive carriers of a full-duplex satellite link to be transmitted in the same transponder space. When combined with advanced FEC and modulation, it delivers unprecedented OPEX savings.

"We are honored to receive this distinguished award in recognition of the market-leading technologies and multi-dimensional optimization provided by the CDM-750," said Louis Dubin, Vice President Product Management for Comtech EF Data.

The Third Annual NGN Leadership Award has recognized the growth, evolution and distinction between the applications and services designed for next generation networks and the enabling technologies that make them possible. Comtech EF Data has been recognized in the Network Technology category.

"Comtech EF Data has been recognized for their exceptional work in advancing NGN services and technologies. The CDM-750 Advanced High-Speed Trunking Modem has proven it is exceptional and its innovation has contributed to the transformation of the industry," stated Rich Tehrani, CEO, TMC.  "Congratulations to the entire team at Comtech EF data and I look forward to more innovation in the coming year."
