World Teleport Association Announces Finalists for the 2008 Teleport Awards for Excellence, Winner of Teleport Executive of the Year Award
(New York City, February 18, 2008) -- World Teleport Association (WTA) announced today the finalists for its 2008 Teleport Awards for Excellence. From this group of finalists, WTA will name winners in each of three categories on February 26, 2008 at the Association's 13th annual Teleport Awards for Excellence Ceremony and Luncheon at SATELLITE 2008. In addition, the association named its Teleport Executive of the Year.

Teleport Executive of the Year
In a separate announcement, WTA announced the selection of Kenneth Miller, President & COO of Globecomm Systems (USA), as its 2008 Teleport Executive of the Year. Mr. Miller helped lead Globecomm to record profitability and was responsible for transforming the company, long known for its customized engineering excellence and integration services, into a provider of complex network solutions for a range of vertical markets, including broadcasting and government. The company’s use of its Long Island teleport to support an aggressive and scalable innovation and growth strategy were also cited by the international trade association.
The 2008 luncheon will be attended by over 150 members, guests and representatives from World Teleport Association. Attendees will include teleport and satellite industry executives, as well previous awards recipients, from around the world.
According to WTA Executive Director, Robert A. Bell, "the theme uniting all of the finalists and winnersis focus in the pursuit of excellence. Each of these companies has sharply focused its efforts on a market, an application or a geographic area. They have not tried to be all things to all customers but have committed to a high level of service to their chosen set of customers."
The 2008 Teleports Awards for Excellence Luncheon is sponsored by SES and its family of companies, including SES Astra, SES Americom and SES NewSkies. Stewart Sanders, Senior Vice President of SES Engineering, a new business unit of SES Global, will give the Host’s Welcome and present the awards to this year’s recipients. The 2008 teleport awards are also supported in part by Eutelsat and Crystal Computer Corporation.
The 2008 event will be emceed by WTA’s Director of Development, Louis Zacharilla.
