On 2 June, GlobeCast delivered a live 3D HD feed of a performance of Don Giovanni from the Rennes Opera house in Brittany via satellite to cinemas in Paris and elsewhere in France, though its collaboration with Orange Labs.

This multi-camera operation, organized by Orange Labs and filmed by AMP, involved combining two video signals into one feed with the help of a Sensio 3D Cinema encoder. The GlobeCast SNG vehicle outside the opera house delivered the single feed to destinations throughout France: two cinemas in Paris, including the famous ‘Geode’ sphere, as well as cinemas in Avignon and Brest. At each cinema, a GlobeCast truck downlinked the feed and decoded it for projection, ensuring that the image layers and audio were perfectly synchronized. The audiences, with the help of 3D glasses, experienced the performance live in astounding quality as if they were in the Rennes opera house, hundreds of miles away.
