Satellite Workshop: Extreme Mobility - Where Satellites Connect To Daily Life
Sunday, January 16, 11:00 am – 12:30 pm
Presented by World Teleport Association and the Society of Satellite Professionals International

WTA and SSPI Director of Development Louis Zacharilla will be moderating the satellite workshop "Extreme Mobility - Where Satellites Connect To Daily Life"

The satellite industry's annual workshop at PTC will explore how satellite carriers and service providers are enabling telecommunication carriers and content providers to move content, offer services and application, connect all sectors of an economy and a market, and integrate networks.

Three keynote addresses by satellite industry company CEOS will provide an in-depth look at how satellite enables the "attention economy" to be fed:
  • ViaSat's Mark Dankberg will give an update on the status of his daring new satellite launch which will change the way people think about bandwidth.
  • ATCi's Gary Hatch will describe how the new media and the ability to gather data at accelerated rates will impact a telco's business model and its revenues.
  • Spacenet's Andreas Georghiou will discuss how Asian mobile carriers can take their applications anywhere.
Each session will have two "inquisitors," industry experts who will listen and ask questions of the keynote speaker, while leading a discussion among the audience members.  The Inquisitors, in addition to Mr. Zacharilla, will include Alan Gottlieb, President, Gottlieb International Group.

PTC'11: Connecting Life 24/7 will examine how telecom is changing, and being challenged, by always-connected users with new requirements and preferences, the transformation of the value chain, changing regulatory concerns, and new demands for high-performance infrastructure.
